2 Thessalonians

An Introduction

Why was being a Christian in Thessalonica so challenging?  Why did they need a big reminder of Jesus' future return?  How can that same message be exactly what we need today?  That's what this introductory sermon in this series explores.

2 Thessalonians 1

"Encouragement for discouraged souls"

How do you infuse hope into the hearts of your Christian friends when they are suffering?  In this first chapter of 2 Thessalonians, Paul points to three truths that can help us do just that.  They also serve as ammunition to fight unbelief in our own hearts in our own tough times.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

"Don't Panic!"

We've all had moments of panic.  Imagine feeling panic that you had missed the Second Coming of Christ?  That was the fear of the Christians in Thessalonica.  Paul points them to biblical truth to give them peace and helps us also know how to be ready when Jesus comes again.

2 Thessalonians 2:12-3:5

"Focus!"

We all have low points when our faith in Christ is flagging, when we're struggling with temptation, or we are stressed and worried in suffocating ways.  This message helps us find relief by refocusing on who God is for us in Jesus.  Listen and find hope!

2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

"A Responsible Peace"

As this letter wraps up, Paul speaks to the church about irresponsible church members who expected others to take care of them.  This message is framed in three "whos" - who to avoid, who to imitate, and who to be.
